Sermon Series

posted Jun 19, 2017, 8:43 AM by Christina Barnes

Last summer, David shared his summer reading list with all of you. What fun to ‘see’ inside his library. It is a way to know a little something about a person when we share our likes and dislikes of what we read. Perhaps that is why book clubs and small groups are so popular; they are more about building community than books. Many of you shared books with me before and during my knee surgery. I loved this time of reading. With summer approaching, I presented David with an idea: what if we preached a series where the topics or thoughts came from our reading of things that challenged or inspired us to study the Bible as a backdrop?

So for the next several weeks David and I will share the pulpit. You may recognize some of the titles of the books we’ve read and some may be unfamiliar. All our sermons will be steeped in scripture. The great Protestant Theologian Karl Barth once said we should always read the newspaper in one hand and our Bible in the other letting our Bible be our interpreter. Perhaps the same may be applied to other reading. Journey with us. I suspect you will learn about us and that God has things to teach us all from the greatest book ever written.

posted May 16, 2017, 6:43 AM by Christina Barnes

KIRK Fellowship is a gathering from this church of those 55 and older who want to join together for food, fun and fellowship – though no one checks ID’s. All are welcome. Each month we gather at a local restaurant or someone’s home. Other months we may travel by church bus to an attraction we vote to see. This group is a way to enjoy things together. So make plans to join us and we’ll save you a seat!

This month grab a ticket to the “Behind the Gate” Garden Tour and we’ll do lunch together. Let Eva know if you are coming for lunch. Tickets are available in the church office.
