The 2014 Clark Convocation "Healthcare for People on the Margins:  Spiritual Mandate for Us, for Who?" was held on February 1 and 2 and led by Dr. Ophelia Garmon-Brown, MD, MDiv., and our own Dr. James D. McLeod, MD, MBA.

Upon the death of Lumberton physician and First Presbyterian Church Elder Emeritus Douglas H. Clark in 1999, the Session of First Presbyterian Church established the Clark Family Endowment Fund with the intent of enhancing educational opportunities for the church.

The primary event supported by the Endowment is the annual Douglas H. Clark and Carolyn J. Clark Convocation.  Drawing on the Latin roots of the word “con-vocation,” the Clark Convocation will be a time when the church and community are “called together” with a leading scholar, teacher, musician, or church leader so that we might learn from and with one another, grow in faith, and be empowered for ministry.Previous Clark Convocations have been led by Frances Taylor Gench, John and Missy Kuykendall, David Eicher, Pete Peery, Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II; and David Lamotte.
