Scouting Programs

Scouting has a long history at First Presbyterian:  Boy Scout Troop 301 was chartered in 1945; Girl Scouts became active around 1980.  Through the years both scouting programs have enjoyed constant success.  Please refer to the church calendar link for specific events and activities.

Boy Scout Troop 301 meets at 7:00 p.m. Monday nights in the Scout Hut located just   behind the Activities Building on Stephens Lane.  This large, active troop goes camping once a month and participates in service projects such as Scouting for Food. There are activities suited to younger and older boys, including a Venture crew that takes more rigorous trips. The troop also sends boys to summer camp; the troop will head to Camp Bowers in June 2008. Contact: Scoutmaster Brad Losh (910-738-4314).

Cub Scout Pack 301 --- Each den meets according to their schedule.  Several Pack Meetings are held during the year at which Scouts receive awards earned since the last Pack Meeting.  A Blue/Gold Banquet is held during the spring along with the Pinewood Derby Race.  Den leaders rotate.

FPC's Girl Scout troops are interested in leading girls throughout our community using the traditions and framework of the
national Girl Scouts and North Carolina's Coastal Pines council.  We meet on Mondays September through April for bimonthly in-house meetings.  Leaders plan annual calendars and update plans based on current events and troop trips and outings.
Girls and leaders engage in summer activities outside of the normal meeting schedule.  Contact us if you're interested in joining any of our troops!
