Kirkin' of the Tartans
Please plan to attend and invite your friends & family to our Kirkin' to be held on September 22nd at 11:00 a.m. We will have a processional of the clan tartan banners/flags into the sanctuary at the beginning of the service (and a recessional and blessing of the tartans at the end of the service).

We will again be fortunate to have Bill Caudill as our bagpiper. Bill is not only the director of the St. Andrew's University Pipe Band and director of the Scottish Heritage Center at St. Andrew's, but is one of the preeminent pipers in this region. Rev. Sam Shumate will lead the service and deliver the sermon.

A covered dish luncheon will be served following the service. The Church will provide meats (fried chicken and one other selection). Please bring a dish (vegetables, dessert, salad, bread, etc) to share.

We suggest that you wear your clan tartan in order that all members of the congregation and visitors show recognition of their heritage, and to honor their ancestors or a family member. Also, as a participant one may have a listing in the Kirkin' service bulletin that the tartan banner is being carried in memory of or in honor of a particular person or persons.

For those wishing to purchase a kilt or tartan accessories, please contact me, Chandler Stewart, for information (910-739-4879-home). I would advise placing your orders for such purchases as soon as possible. We welcome non church members to participate in the service. Please contact either myself, or our director, Betty Lamb (BML4@att.net or any member of the Scottish Heritage Committee for additional information.
