Vision Statement

Jesus Christ calls, redeems, and empowers us, as First Presbyterian Church, to be an active witness of faith, hope, and love to Lumberton and the world.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. (Acts 1:8)

Mission Statement

We join Christ’s mission to the world.

God gathers us, freed and forgiven in Jesus Christ, for:
Worship and Prayer
Faith formation and Education
                                                        Christ-like compassion and care

God sends us forth, sustained and empowered by the Holy Spirit, for:

 Core Values

Faith – God calls us to follow Jesus Christ, so in everything we do we seek to be faithful by discerning the will of Christ within us, knowing, that for those who love God, all things work together for good.

Hospitality – God gathers us as a community of faith, so we will extend that welcome by inviting others to join with us, celebrating diversity, and creating space for everyone to encounter and come to saving faith in our risen Lord.

Generosity – God blesses us abundantly, so we will respond with gratitude through the sharing of our time, talents, and financial resources.

Love – God loves us long before we can love God, so we will love one another and share that love with others through compassion and care.

Tradition – God has been our help in ages past, so we rejoice that we are a community of faith rooted in scripture, our congregation’s history, and the Presbyterian/Reformed tradition.

Hope – God is our hope for years to come, so throughout our journey we will live and serve in expectation of the day when God will make all things new.

Joy - God is with us, so we rejoice always!
